A Man From Stroud Was Arrested After He Reportedly Threatened Kids With a Hammer

STROUD, Oklahoma — A man from Stroud was arrested after he reportedly said he would hit three kids with a hammer while they were waiting for the school bus.

A probable cause affidavit says that police were called to the area of 2nd Street and Harrison Avenue in Stroud to report a guy who might have been trying to hit children with a hammer.

When police came, a neighbor told them that Zachary Roberts, 45, was yelling and swearing at three kids waiting for the school bus in the neighborhood. The neighbor also said Roberts was swinging something around and telling the kids he would hit them with it “if they didn’t shut up.”

Court records show that the neighbor told Roberts to leave the kids alone. People say Roberts then yelled and cursed at the neighbor and then rode his bike down 2nd St. and left.

The kid Roberts is said to have threatened said that the thing he was holding looked like a hammer.

Later, police found Roberts at a home in Lincoln County, just south of Carney. He allegedly told them that he didn’t make any threats but did say “b— shut the f— up.”

The statement says that Roberts was told to give the police the hammer he was carrying. Following his return with the hammer, Roberts went on a rant about his “desire to return to prison to kill as many sex offenders as possible.”

Roberts was arrested on Monday and taken to the Lincoln County Jail on one count of assault and abuse, two counts of making violent threats, and one count of putting bodily fluids on a government worker.
