A woman from Florida got pregnant while she was in a Miami jail. She gave birth to a girl in June, but her family is still waiting to hear how she got pregnant.
It is said that Daisy Link, who is 29 years old, killed her husband in 2022 and is now charged with second-degree murder. But in a Christmas call to her family, she said that she got pregnant while she was in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She was said to have said that the pregnancy was caused by a male prisoner passing a glove with sperm on it through an air vent.
And Link told her family that she had been sexually attacked. But she later told her lawyer that wasn’t true.
WVSN, an ABC station in Miami, said that Link gave birth to the girl in June.
“They gave the baby to the mother of an inmate 48 hours after the baby was born on June 19,” she said. “That family might not even be real.”
The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in Miami-Dade County is looking into it. It used to say that there was no proof of a sexual attack. According to WSVN, the probe is still going on.
Bareto said she thinks the jail should be looked into by an outside group, calling the whole thing “absurd.”
She told WVSN, “We never really got the real, true story about what happened to her in there.” “I feel like the investigation into what happened to my sister has been pushed to the back burner over time.”
She said she thinks the agency is taking too long to finish the review because it could lead to employees being punished, which could include firings.
Link is said to have shot her husband in the leg outside of their home in Homestead on June 25, 2022.
A video is said to show Link telling the husband, who later died, “I think I hit a major artery; you’ll be fine.”
According to court records, she is also charged with battery on a prison officer for an event that happened last month. She has a court date coming up on Thursday.
