APD Names 18-Year-Old Suspect in Deadly Hit-and-Run Incident

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – Albuquerque police (APD) are searching for a guy who admitted to hitting and killing a woman with his car in southeast Albuquerque.

Earlier this month, APD responded to a hit-and-run report along San Pablo Street and Trumbull Avenue.

According to the police report, a couple was strolling down the street when the male heard a car approaching at high speed. He managed to get out of the way, but Melissa Powers was hit by the car. She died at the site.

Three days later, Jorge Ceniceros, 18, reportedly called the police to acknowledge to the crime and provide specific details.

Ceniceros is facing homicide and hit-and-run charges. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
