According to Bloomberg sources, Apple is working on a new version of its voice assistant, Siri, that will use advanced large language models (LLMs). This more conversational Siri is part of Apple’s effort to catch up in AI, where competitors have developed remarkable capabilities such as Google’s Gemini Live, which are significantly more natural to talk to than Siri.
The new assistant is expected to completely replace the Siri interface that customers currently rely on, with Apple expecting to deliver the feature in the spring of 2026. The capability appears to be comparable to OpenAI’s Advanced Voice Mode but with the same level of access to personal information and apps as Siri currently has.
Until then, Apple relies on third-party developers to power the iPhone’s powerful AI functions. OpenAI’s ChatGPT will be available in Apple Intelligence in December, and Apple has considered similar agreements with other AI companies such as Google and Anthropic.
