Arizona Man Arrested for Voyeurism After Hiding Under Women’s Cars; Victim Calls Incident ‘Absolutely Disgusting’

In late August, a man was arrested in Gilbert, Arizona, for reportedly creeping beneath multiple women’s automobiles for sexual enjoyment, according to Fox 10 and AZ Family.

Jesse Michael Johnson, 28, was allegedly caught on video surveillance at a Super Star Car Wash in Gilbert on Thursday, August 29.

Johnson, who has a history of sex offenses, was arrested on Tuesday, September 24, and charged with three counts of voyeurism and disorderly conduct. He was jailed on a $10,000 bond and is set to appear in court on October 3, according to Fox 10.

Chanelle, one of the alleged victims, said she stopped at the car wash before driving her son to school. According to CCTV footage, Johnson allegedly glanced out the driver’s side window of Chanelle’s automobile. He then went back to his car and allegedly appeared to be washing the tires.

She told AZ Family that if another customer hadn’t pointed him out, she would have certainly missed what was going on.

Johnson was allegedly witnessed doing this twice more on the same day to two separate women.

“In these three incidents, the defendant pulled into a parking spot next to the victim,” investigators stated in court filings, according to Fox 10. “While each victim was vacuuming her vehicle, the defendant hid under her SUV for several minutes. When each victim finished cleaning, the defendant walked out from under the truck and left the area.”

“That’s not okay. You know, this is a vehicle wash. “You should be safe,” Super Star Car Wash general manager Reyes Brito told AZFamily.

Chanelle told AZFamily that she “felt very violated” and was “having nightmares.”

“Going into the community and doing this to women is disgusting, and I don’t think he realizes what it’s doing to us as the victims,” she told me.

“I could not believe it. I could not believe I was in that circumstance. I just had a baby two weeks before this. I have two other children. “It was a very scary situation, especially since I had my little boy with me at the time,” she told Fox 10. “I guess this is just a really good reminder: just to make sure that you’re always looking around, keeping your kids close, because you just never know what can be happening around you.”

Johnson had a criminal record and had previously been arrested in Nebraska, according to Arizona authorities. According to court documents, he informed law authorities in the Midwest that he “is sexually attracted to women’s feet” and was unable to control “his sexual desires,” according to AZ Family.

In June 2016, Johnson was cited four times in Nebraska for reportedly sneaking under cars and grabbing people’s ankles, according to KOLN/KGIN. He was arrested for disturbing the peace and pled no contest. He was sentenced to two years probation, fined $150, and ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation.

The Gilbert Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information on Monday, September 30.
