Race Day Live (Nashville, TN) – Bailey Zimmerman, a country music sensation, apologized publicly to his followers on Instagram on Tuesday for his inebriated behavior at the recent Crash My Playa music event in Cancun.
Zimmerman, who delivered an eight-song performance, said he was “embarrassed” by the scenario and was posting an apology because he was raised to “face my problems head on.”
“I’d like to talk about something that’s been eating me alive,” he said in his Instagram post. “Last weekend, down in Cancún, Mexico, I’m sure everybody’s seen the videos of me playing absolutely awful and singing absolutely awful and I feel like you guys deserve an explanation from me because you’ve had my back through the highs and lows and through every mistake.”
Zimmerman admits he drank earlier in the day, which he calls “a mistake.” As a result, his performance deteriorated.
People magazine reported that the singer was noticeably inebriated on stage, singing off pitch while performing shirtless in swim trunks. One footage shows him jumping off the stage.
“Nobody got the show that they wanted or paid for. And I’m disappointed in myself,” he said in his Instagram post. Now, he said, he is focused on making sure that he doesn’t repeat his mistakes.
“I want to show you guys the person that I truly am. So I’m just asking for a little bit of grace,” Zimmerman said. “Man, growing up is interesting. It’s not an excuse, but man, thank you to everybody that’s got my back. Thank you for staying, thank you for showing me love and grace, and we’re gonna crush this year.”
Zimmerman broke onto the country music scene a few years ago, winning numerous platinum certifications for singles and selling out a headline tour. He was nominated for Best New Artist of the Year at the Country Music Association’s 2024 Awards.
