After a challenging year following Big Lots’ bankruptcy announcement in December 2024, there’s finally some good news.
Variety Wholesalers, the company that acquired hundreds of Big Lots stores, will begin reopening locations in Tennessee on Thursday, April 10.
The first phase of these “soft openings” will include nine stores reopening across the country, with Tennessee leading the way.
Three stores in Clarksville, Gallatin, and Dickson will be the first to relaunch, marking a key step in Big Lots’ recovery.
A second wave of reopenings is scheduled for May 1, with 70 more stores expected to reopen nationwide.
Big Lots had to close all 870 locations after years of financial trouble, resulting in the loss of 27,000 jobs.
However, Variety Wholesalers, which owns Roses, Bill’s Dollar Stores, and Super Dollar, stepped in and purchased over 200 stores and two distribution centers.
This move will allow Big Lots to continue operating under its original brand and maintain its place in the discount retail market.
Tennessee residents can expect more affordable shopping options as these reopenings aim to bring back jobs and boost local businesses.
