Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, has received a significant bonus for his exceptional performance during the 2023 NFL season.
On Monday, Purdy was granted a bonus of $739,795 through the NFL’s performance-based pay program. This program rewards players who exceed expectations based on their playing time compared to their salary.
The bonus amount was almost equivalent to Purdy’s base pay for the year, which was $889,253.
Purdy, at 24 years old, had an outstanding season, earning a spot in the Pro Bowl. He led the 49ers to a 12-4 record as a starter, completing an impressive 69.4 percent of his passes and throwing for 4,280 yards. Additionally, he threw 31 touchdowns and had a low interception rate of 11 times.
He led the league in various statistics, including touchdown rate, yards per attempt, passer rating, and QBR.
Despite his remarkable performance, the 49ers fell short in the Super Bowl, losing in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs.
It’s worth noting that Purdy was the last pick in the 2022 NFL draft, making his rise to success even more remarkable.
The top recipient of performance-based pay was Baltimore Ravens guard John Simpson, who received a bonus of $974,613.
