Calaveras County Homicide Suspect Still at Large Following Police Chase Near Stockton

San Joaquin County — A person wanted for attempted homicide in Calaveras County is still at large following a chase that ended in adjacent San Joaquin County, authorities said Monday night.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies attempted to stop the suspect on Interstate 5 near Benjamin Holt Drive, but he fled. The suspect ultimately made it to Highway 26 before exiting and going into an orchard on Fairchild Road with a passenger.

The traveler was apprehended and detained.

The search for the culprit was halted after the sheriff’s office stated that all of its personnel had been assigned to the case. Some deputies will stay in the region.

The suspect was only identified as an adult man in a black shirt and black shorts. Authorities suspect he is armed. Anyone who sees the suspect or knows where he is should contact the authorities immediately.
