Los Angeles police are looking for the person who shot and killed a doctor who treated movie stars and athletes. The doctor was discovered dead in his vehicle outside a medical complex.
The incident occurred on August 23 at about 6:12 p.m. in the 5900 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release. When cops arrived, the man was discovered with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at his job.
Multiple reports identified the victim as 61-year-old Dr. Hamid Mirshojae.
Mirshojae’s family friend, Maryem Alaei, told KTLA, “Everyone in the Woodland Hills area, even in LA, knows him because he was a really good doctor.” “Always laughing, always joking, always helping people.”
A motive has not been determined, and police say the shooter fled on foot. There is no suspect description available.
Staff at the clinic informed the Daily Mail that he was accosted by three guys wielding baseball bats and beaten outside the facility only a few months ago.
A memorial for the doctor may be found outside the clinic, and a vigil has been organized in his honor.
Mirshojae leaves behind a wife and a 6-month-old child who were in Turkey at the time of his murder, according to local media. The Daily Mail said that he had three grown children from his previous marriage.
“He’s been my doctor for fifteen years. Gloria Sera told KTLA, “He made me feel better.” “He was from Iran, and I don’t know if he was telling me the truth, but last time I came, he said he had just gotten married.”
The doctor’s online biography on the Detox Woodland Hills website states that he has “over two decades of experience providing urgent and emergency care.” He’d had “over 10 years of experience in addictionology.”
“He has helped thousands of patients achieve their goal of having a sober life,” according to his Wikipedia entry. “His patients include celebrities, movie stars, athletes, and many people of different walks of life.”
