Cantonment Man Dies in Santa Rosa After Vehicle Catches Fire Following Crash

He was 62 years old and from Cantonment. He died in a fiery crash in Santa Rosa County on Tuesday morning.

Just before 4 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol got a call that a man’s SUV had left the road on Interstate 10 near mile marker 39.

An FHP report said, “Vehicle 1 left the road and entered the south shoulder.” “Vehicle 1 entered into a wooded area, striking some trees.”

The 62-year-old man crashed into some woods just off the interstate, and the FHP said the car “burst into flames,” killing the driver.

It was not made public by FHP what caused the man to drive off the road.
