Carteret Community College Wants to Offer Sports Along With Classes

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — Carteret Community College wants to add games to its grounds.

The school said they want to add women’s soccer, cross country, and baseball, but they don’t have any yet.

The government said these three would save the most money. They said they planned to play and practice at close places like the Big Rock Stadium.

They need to apply to the National Junior College Athletic Association still, but they hope to be able to play by the 2026 season.

CEO of Carteret neighborhood College Tracy Mancini said, “I’m excited to make new friends and fans in the community.” “I believe that sports will bring more people to the college. It will also give us a chance to show off what we do, and maybe some people will decide that they want to come here to take classes.”

People in charge of the schools said they hope the sports will bring in kids from outside of Carteret County and keep current students there.
