CPD Box containing human remains was reportedly discovered on the sidewalk on the Near West Side

CHICAGO — A witness reported finding a box containing human remains on a sidewalk on Chicago’s Near West Side, prompting authorities to launch an investigation.

According to Chicago police, the box was discovered in the 2600 block of West Taylor Street in the city’s Tri-Taylor area.

Officers said a witness called police shortly before 6 p.m. to report seeing a box containing the remains of an unknown victim.

Currently, it is unclear what caused the victim’s death, and an investigation is underway.
