An Erie mother is facing felony assault and child endangerment charges after being accused by police of assaulting her 2-year-old kid earlier this month.

Anna M. Strawcutter, 24, was charged with a second-degree felony count of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony count of endangering the welfare of children, and misdemeanor counts of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person in an incident that occurred on August 1.

According to Strawcutter’s criminal complaint, substantial injuries were discovered on the youngster when Strawcutter took him to the pediatrician, and the child was immediately transported to the emergency room at UPMC Hamot. The infant had bruising and blood marks on his face and neck, which were thought to be consistent with strangling or smothering, according to the statement of probable cause.

Strawcutter acknowledged to placing a hand over the child’s neck in an attempt to stop the youngster from screaming a few days before the pediatrician appointment, according to the affidavit.

Strawcutter was booked into Erie County Prison on a $75,000 bond after being arraigned by Erie 2nd Ward District Judge Ed Wilson on Friday night. Her lawyer was not named on her felony docket sheet.
