Cincinnati, OH – A 21-year-old Ohio mother, Bethoney Miller-Williams, has been arrested following the tragic death of her 2-year-old daughter, Ah’Layla Bradley, who was exposed to the deadly combination of fentanyl and xylazine.
According to local authorities, Cincinnati Police responded to a call on July 29 regarding an unresponsive child at a residence on Bracken Woods Lane. The child was rushed to the Children’s Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death to be homicide on September 17, concluding that the exposure to fentanyl and xylazine was fatal. The following day, an arrest warrant was issued for Miller-Williams. She now faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment.
Court documents obtained by WCPO-9 TV reveal that Miller-Williams allegedly “facilitated an environment which exposed (Bradley) to the lethal effects of fentanyl and xylazine, resulting in her death.” Xylazine, an animal tranquilizer not approved for human use, has increasingly been found mixed with narcotics like heroin and fentanyl. The Drug Enforcement Administration warns that xylazine can lead to severe health complications, including slowed heart rate and respiratory failure.
Miller-Williams was taken into custody and booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center on Thursday morning. A judge has set her bond at $150,000.
This tragic incident highlights the growing issue of drug exposure in households and the dangerous consequences of fentanyl and its mixtures with other substances.
