Hillary Clinton Admits She ‘Got Tears in My Eyes’ After Trump’s Guilty Verdict in Stormy Daniels Hush Money Case

Hillary Clinton admitted to having “tears in my eyes” after Donald Trump was found guilty in his hush money trial. In a filmed interview with CBS Sunday Morning that was published on Sunday, Clinton explained that her emotions were sparked “because this man has escaped accountability his entire life.”

CBS journalist Erin Moriarty also asked Clinton what that conviction felt like, given that she spent months as the previous Democratic presidential contender against Trump, hearing screams of “Lock her up” throughout the 2016 election cycle. “Looks like karma to me,” Clinton added, smirking.

The two also talked about the presidential debate between Trump and Kamala Harris. For Clinton, debating Trump “was difficult because I had to rely on the debate stage, but then I had to think, ‘Now how do I respond to that? He’s trying to bait you. Everything is broken about it. Everything.”

Clinton sees herself as a relay runner in Harris’ historic presidential campaign, following in the footsteps of Shirley Chisholm, who ran in 1972. “I stand on the shoulders and have passed on the baton to the next generation, just as Shirley did,” Mrs. Clinton claimed.

The former secretary of state also shared some personal news: she and President Bill Clinton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in only one year, on October 11, 2025. Moriarty questioned Clinton if she worried the relationship would not last, to which Hillary responded with a laugh: “Oh, there was. “You are aware that there was.”

Clinton said of their marriage therapy experience, “It was really hard.”

“And you know, one day I’d wake up and say, ‘OK, no, I’m done,'” Clinton said about her marriage. “Another day, I’d wake up and say, ‘I’ve got to keep trying to see this through and figure out what I want and what I feel right about, and how do you rebuild trust and the relationship — and is it worth it?'” Is it something you wish to invest in? And when I asked all of those questions, the replies were ‘yes,’ ‘yes,’ and ‘yes.'”
