Race Day Live   Wildfires continue to cause destruction in Southern California as strong Santa Ana winds and dry weather create perfect conditions for the flames to spread.

Firefighters are battling multiple fires across the region, and residents are being evacuated to safety.

The Hughes Fire started near Castaic Lake, just north of Santa Clarita, on Wednesday morning. It quickly grew to over 10,000 acres. Evacuation orders were issued for nearby areas, and Interstate 5 was closed in both directions.

In Los Angeles, the Sepulveda Fire broke out near Interstate 405 on Wednesday night. It burned about 40 acres before firefighters stopped its progress.

Meanwhile, in Ventura County on Thursday, the Laguna Fire ignited near Camarillo. This fire led to the evacuation of California State University Channel Islands.

The National Weather Service issued red flag warnings for parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. These warnings are in effect until Friday morning as the area experiences strong winds and very dry conditions.

Some good news has emerged regarding earlier wildfires. Evacuation orders have been lifted for people affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires, which started earlier this month.

Combined, these fires burned over 35,000 acres, destroyed more than 15,000 buildings, and caused at least 28 deaths.

According to Cal Fire, the Eaton Fire is now 95% contained, while the Palisades Fire is at 71% containment. Firefighters remain on high alert, working tirelessly to protect communities from further damage.

Southern California residents are urged to stay informed and ready to evacuate if necessary. With dry conditions and strong winds, wildfires can spread quickly, putting lives and homes at risk.
