Illinois Police Officers Shot and Hospitalized During Search Warrant Operation Near University

On Wednesday, officers from the Macomb Police Department in Illinois were shot and seriously hurt while carrying out an arrest warrant near Western Illinois University.

The police said that when the shots were fired, two officers were searching for the 300 block of North Normal Street.

The cops were taken to hospitals in the area for care, and the department said they were still in critical but stable condition there.

Police were still on the scene and telling people to stay away from the area. In a Facebook post, the police said there is currently no danger to the neighborhood.

On the same day, a 14-year-old student opened fire at a high school in Georgia, killing four and hurting many more, including a teacher.
