Fox News host Jeanine Pirro falsely claimed that former President Donald Trump has not been charged with obstructing justice in connection with his felony classified documents case in Florida. However, Trump and his co-defendants were indeed charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice.
During her segment on The Five, Pirro criticized Robert Hur, the special counsel who investigated President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents. She argued that there was overwhelming evidence against Biden but Hur did not recommend charges.
Pirro’s statement contradicts the truth, as Trump was indicted last summer on multiple counts related to mishandling classified documents. The charges include conspiring to obstruct justice, along with other counts under the Espionage Act for retaining national defence information.
The indictment alleges that Trump, along with others, conspired to hide classified material, lied about documents stored at Mar-a-Lago, and attempted to delete security camera footage to obstruct the investigation.
Despite Pirro’s assertion, the facts remain clear: Trump faces serious charges, including obstruction of justice, in connection with the classified documents case.
