JOPLIN, Missouri — A Joplin woman will serve time in prison for her involvement in a murder.

Carla Jo Ward, 50, was sentenced to ten years in federal prison without parole.

She will also serve eight years on supervised release.

This punishment derives from her role in the July 2020 kidnapping and murder of 41-year-old Michael Hall.

Hall’s body was discovered on a property in rural Newton County.

Four other people implicated in the murder have already received prison sentences.

Ward is charged with one count of kidnapping and four counts of unauthorized transportation of guns.
