Race Day Live (Louisville, KY) – A Kentucky convenience store owner has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and brutally beating a guy accused of stealing a box of vape pens from his store.
Kaushalkumar Patel, 40, was arrested on Thursday after reportedly carrying out the psychotic plot on Oct. 6, 2024, after witnessing a client leaving his E-Z Super Food Mart in Louisville without paying, according to several publications.
According to police, the alleged shoplifter fled the store while Patel and others tracked him down in a van and pepper-sprayed him in the face.
According to WDRB, the alleged thief crawled into a yard before Patel pulled up his shorts and sprayed mace into his anus before forcing him into the van.
The group brought the victim to a garage near Patel’s company and allegedly punched, kicked, and slapped him with a piece of wood.
The suspected shoplifter was thrown back into the van before being left off at Lee Street, where his mother picked him up and drove him to the hospital for sutures.
He also sustained a concussion and bruises, according to the outlet.
The business owner was charged on Friday with kidnapping, second-degree assault, and wanton endangerment, to which he pleaded not guilty.
