Race Day Live (Branson, MO) – The Branson Police Department detained a guy from Louisiana following a domestic incident at a motel. The incident happened on on Saturday, January 18.
According to the Branson Police Department (BPD), officers were dispatched to a motel on Gretna Road in response to a report of domestic violence involving a weapon. The BPD SWAT squad was also dispatched to the motel when authorities were unable to reach one of the suspects.
BPD was eventually able to search and secure the affected motel rooms. The search turned up several illegal firearms, illegally produced firearms, illegal firearm accessories, illegal narcotics, and drug paraphernalia used for methamphetamine. The weapons comprised many rifles and shotguns, as well as a “ghost gun.”
According to court documents, the suspect, 42-year-old Colt Hicks, had a prior conviction in Louisiana for multiple methamphetamine possession counts, possession of a controlled drug, and aggravated violence.

The day after the incident, BPD officers interviewed Hicks, who admitted to owning the illegal guns and building them with parts he purchased online, according to the probable cause statement.
Hicks has subsequently been charged with criminal possession, transportation, manufacture, repair, or sale of illicit weapons, as well as unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hicks is being held in the Taney County Detention Center on no bond. He has a bond reduction hearing planned for January 28.
