Race Day Live The Florida Public Service Commission has approved plans for Duke Energy and Tampa Electric (TECO) to pass storm recovery costs to customers.
These costs cover storm reserves, which help pay for extra workers needed to restore power after major storms.
Starting next month, TECO customers will see an increase of about $20 on their monthly electricity bills.
This increase will last for 18 months, adding up to a total of around $360 per customer.
Duke Energy customers will face a $32 rise in their monthly bills for 12 months, amounting to nearly $390 per customer.

Duke Energy’s rate hike will begin in March. The final amount customers pay will depend on their power usage, so some may see even higher increases than the base rates announced.
These changes come as utility companies work to recover costs from past storms and rebuild their reserves for future weather events.
The additional charges will help ensure the companies can quickly respond to power outages and maintain reliable service during severe storms.
