Man Arrested After Hours-Long Hostage Situation and Shooting Incident in Crenshaw County!

Race Day Live A tense situation unfolded in Crenshaw County, Alabama, on Monday afternoon, as police from multiple agencies responded to a dangerous standoff at a house.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is handling the investigation.

According to ALEA, officers were called to a home on the 3000 block of Campground Church Road, near the Pike County line, just after 11 a.m. The call reported a home invasion and hostage situation.

The suspect, Jerrol Leon McLeod, a 62-year-old man from Luverne, fired shots at three people inside the house.

Thankfully, no one was hit or injured. After several hours, McLeod surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody by the authorities.

He is now facing serious charges, including three counts of attempted murder and first-degree burglary. McLeod is currently held in the Crenshaw County jail without bail.

In a statement on Facebook, Crenshaw County Sheriff Terry Mears assured the public: “We understand incidents like this can cause concern. We appreciate the community’s patience and support as we work to ensure everyone’s safety in Crenshaw County.”
