According to authorities, a man died after being shot on Tuesday while attempting to interfere in a “dispute” between a group of teenage girls that swiftly escalated.
In an email to the Herald, Miami Dade Police Det. Angel Rodriguez stated that the victim was shot by an “unknown subject” during the incident. The specific circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown.
Police are offering $5000 to anyone who can provide a tip leading to an arrest.
According to Florida City Police Sgt. David Hunsberger, officers responded to allegations of a shooting near Northwest 14th Street and Northwest First Court around 5:30 p.m. but discovered no casualty.
Johnny Lewis Stevenson, 47, was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center shortly after arriving at Homestead Hospital, according to Hunsberger.
Police said Stevenson died during surgery.
