A man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Midland Park on Friday evening, according to officials.

Midland Park police arrived to Godwin Avenue at the junction with Witte Drive around 7:10 p.m. on Friday and discovered an adult male pedestrian who had been hit by a car, according to Jeff Angermeyer, deputy chief of detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim was rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson with critical injuries and died there, he added.

The man’s identity is being kept secret “pending notification to the next of kin,” Angermeyer said.

The vehicle involved in the accident departed the scene.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Midland Park Police Department are handling the investigation.
