Race Day Live Burlington, Iowa—Police have arrested a robbery suspect in southeast Iowa after a five-hour chase involving a motorcycle and a search on foot.
The incident happened Saturday afternoon at Hometown Cash Advance, located at 2830 Mt. Pleasant Street in Burlington.
Authorities say Michael O’Malley Rose, 31, of Burlington, robbed the business at gunpoint and took off with an unknown amount of cash.
Witnesses reported seeing Rose leave the scene on an orange-and-black motorcycle. Police acted quickly and began tracking the motorcycle, which was spotted speeding south on Highway 61 before turning onto a nearby road.

Officers found the motorcycle abandoned on a road off Highway 61, leading them to believe Rose fled into a wooded area. Law enforcement set up a perimeter around the area and started their search.
The chase ended at around 5:15 p.m. when officers located and arrested Rose without any resistance.
Rose is facing several charges, including first-degree robbery, first-degree theft, and obstruction of emergency communication. He is currently held in the Des Moines County jail without bond.
Multiple agencies assisted in the manhunt, including the Burlington Police Department, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa State Patrol Air Wing Unit.
This arrest brings an end to an intense afternoon of police activity in the community. Police have not disclosed the amount of money stolen, but they confirmed no one was hurt during the incident.
Rose now awaits legal proceedings while investigators continue their work on the case.
