Motorcyclist, 30, Succumbs to Injuries Three Weeks After Southwest Las Vegas Crash

LAS VEGAS — A 30-year-old bicyclist died almost three weeks after an accident in the southwest Las Vegas Valley.

Around 4:30 p.m. on November 18, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was called to the area of south Durango Drive and Starboard Drive in Spring Valley to reports of a crash involving a car and a motorbike.

Based on what police found at the scene, a red Yamaha motorbike was going very fast south on Durango Drive as it got close to the intersection with Starboard Drive. Police in LVM said that at the same time, a black 2013 Nissan Versa was going north on South Durango Drive and trying to turn left onto Starboard Drive.

Police say the motorbike hit the front of the Nissan on the right when the car turned in front of it. The impact pushed the car southwest, where it stopped near the intersection curb. The motorcyclist, on the other hand, was thrown off and fell on cacti and other plants southwest of the intersection, according to the police.

First rescuers took both the motorcyclist and the driver of the Nissan to a nearby hospital. Police said the driver of the Nissan had minor bruises and didn’t seem to be having any trouble.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office told LVMPD on December 11 that the motorcycle rider had been declared dead.
