Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes I-65 South in Alabaster, Multiple Injuries Reported

Race Day Live (SHELBY COUNTY, AL) – On Thursday evening, a significant collision involving numerous vehicles occurred on Interstate 65 South in Alabaster, Alabama. The collision resulted in multiple injuries and caused the closure of all southbound lanes near the 240 mile marker.

Just before 8:00 o’clock in the evening, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported that the collision took place.

At exit 242, which is commonly referred to as the Tank Farm exit, traffic is being rerouted onto Shelby County Road 52.

First responders from the Pelham Fire Department and the Alabaster Fire Department are currently ministering to the injured, and many victims are being transported to receive medical care, according to official statements from both departments.

According to the officials, the true extent of the injuries is currently unknown at this time. Drivers are being urged by the authorities to use caution and stay away from the area if at all possible.
