Someone who has been called “Poland’s Josef Fritzl” held a woman captive, abused her, and raped her in an old barn for four years.
Malgorzata, the victim, is 30 years old and met Mateusz J, a worker, on a dating website in 2019. She then went to visit him in his small town near Glogow in western Poland.
A local news site called myGlogow said she was then locked up in an empty barn for more than four years and raped, hit, and later became pregnant while living only four meters from the suspect’s neighbors.
People in the area called her captor, who is 35 years old, a “loner” and a “freak.” He was arrested this week and faces up to 25 years in jail on charges of sexual, physical, and mental abuse.
The prosecutors said the victim could not get power, running water, a toilet, or personal hygiene items in the stone room with a bricked-up window, which used to be an animal space.
The victim said that he beat, starved, and tortured her when she didn’t meet his sexual standards.
Mateusz J is said to have gotten her pregnant during the experience. She was then taken to a hospital in the nearby city of Nowa Sol to give birth and then had to give the child up for adoption.
“I couldn’t be honest with the doctors.” This person said, “I was scared, and he told me that things would get worse if I complained.”
This story is similar to that of Fritzl, one of Austria’s worst criminals, who locked up his daughter for 24 years in a dungeon under his house and had seven children with her.
After the suspect broke Malgorzata’s arm and then her leg four years ago, she was reportedly taken to the hospital several more times. Last year, she had surgery for a broken anus.
On Tuesday, she went back to the hospital with a dislocated shoulder. This time, she was able to tell the doctors, who then called the cops.
The charges against Mateusz J, who was taken on August 30, are not true.
