Whatcom County, WA — A man has been arrested following a serious car accident on Chuckanut Drive that left four people injured, including two young children. The crash occurred around 7:44 p.m. on Saturday, with the Washington State Patrol (WSP) attributing the incident to reckless driving.
Nathan Singh, 20, was taken into custody at the scene on suspicion of vehicular assault. According to Trooper Kelsey Harding of the WSP, Singh was driving a 2024 BMW M4 southbound on Chuckanut Drive when he lost control of his vehicle. The BMW veered into the northbound lane, colliding with a 2020 Hyundai Tucson.
The force of the impact caused both vehicles to come to a stop in the northbound lane, resulting in the closure of the road for several hours. Emergency responders transported four occupants of the Hyundai, including two young children, to St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham for treatment. Fortunately, Singh and his passenger were not injured in the crash.
There was no evidence of drugs or alcohol being involved in the collision. Witnesses reported that Singh was driving with a blatant disregard for traffic safety, leading to the unfortunate accident.
The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
