Rockford Police Arrest Three, Recover Stolen Machine Gun Pistol in Shooting Investigation

Race Day Live (Rockford, IL) – A 33-year-old man and two teenagers were arrested after a reported shooting on Rockford’s south side Saturday night, authorities said. Police also recovered two firearms, including a stolen gun converted into a machine gun pistol.

Officers from the Rockford Police Department’s Specialized Community Oriented Policing Enforcement (SCOPE) team were dispatched to the 3000 block of Horton Street around 9:40 p.m. for the reported incident.

During their investigation, officers recovered two firearms. One of the weapons, stolen from Dubuque, Iowa, was equipped with a laser sight, an extended magazine, and a fully automatic switch device.

Charges Filed

Michael Hendricks, 33, was arrested and faces several charges, including:

  • Possession of a machine gun by a felon.
  • Possession of a stolen firearm.
  • Unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm by a gang member.
  • Possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender.

A 17-year-old suspect was charged with:

  • Unlawful possession of a machine gun.
  • Possession of a stolen firearm.
  • Two counts of no valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID).
  • A violation of no valid FOID from a prior case.

Another 17-year-old suspect was charged with:

  • No valid FOID.
  • Aggravated discharge of a firearm from a prior case.
  • Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon from a prior case.

Additionally, 24-year-old Carlos Hardt was taken into custody on outstanding warrants.
