Recently published 911 audio captures the chilling moment a 7-year-old girl in Ohio pleaded with her armed father during a standoff with police, saying, “I don’t want to go to heaven today.”
On November 11, Oaklynn Alexander was taken by her non-custodial father, Charles Ryan Alexander, 43, from her grandmother’s residence in Jefferson County, eastern Ohio.
A police chase ensued after an Amber Alert was issued for a man who fled with his young daughter, according to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities ultimately let the air out of Alexander’s tires, leading to a tense confrontation with law enforcement in a parking area.
Disturbing 911 audio captures a father, armed and in distress, making threats against himself and his daughter, shouting, “I will shoot us both, stand back!”
Young Oaklynn’s voice echoes in the background as she pleads with her father, saying, “Please don’t.”
Holding a gun, Alexander threatened the girl’s mother, stating, “I wanna talk to her mother. If you’re listening, Ashley, you should’ve called.”
The sound fades before Oaklynn inquires of her father whether they will “both go to heaven.”
“How do you know we’re going to heaven?” she asks and her father replies, “We’ll both go?”
Oaklynn pushes her father for more clarity, inquiring, “Am I going to heaven?” Upon understanding the implications, she immediately exclaims, “No!”
“I don’t want to go to heaven today,” Oaklynn can be heard pleading. Her father then tells her, “I didn’t want it to happen either, I just wanted to talk to your mother.”
A 911 dispatcher interjects, saying to Alexander, “I understand you never intended to harm [your daughter] and this isn’t how you wanted things to turn out.”
“Let’s not do anything we can’t undo,” the 911 dispatcher tells Alexander.
In the background, Oaklynn repeatedly asks if she’s “going to heaven today,” at one moment expressing her distress by crying out, “I don’t want to!”
A different dispatcher attempts to calm Alexander, advising him, “Just continue the conversation with her if you want to ease her fears.”
“We should avoid actions that could make things more unjust for her, because I know you care about her,” the operator states.
During the call, police shot and killed Charles Alexander.
Oaklynn has been reunited with her family following a tragic incident involving her father’s death at the hands of law enforcement.
