A 37-year-old woman, Michelle N. Reeves, is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a car, crashing it, and entering a stranger’s home to take a shower.
The incident began around 6 p.m. when the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 200 block of Greenlawn Drive.
According to authorities, Reeves stole a silver 2007 BMW that had been left idling in a nearby driveway. Within moments, the car veered out of control, hitting a basketball hoop and then crashing head-on into a tree.
Deputies arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and were met with an unusual report from the homeowner. The homeowner stated that a nude woman had entered their house without permission and locked herself in the bathroom.
Deputy Xavier Biggerstaff located Reeves in the bathroom, where she was found showering. She eventually exited the bathroom wrapped in a towel and was promptly taken into custody.
Before being booked into the La Porte County Jail, Reeves was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance.
She now faces a range of charges, including theft, unauthorized entry of a vehicle, criminal mischief, and public nudity. Her bond has been set at $755 cash-only, and she remains in custody as of now.
