When there is a power outage, SNAP participants may lose the food purchased with their Food Stamps. Some northeast Ohioans may receive a replacement. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services has acquired a waiver from the USDA to automatically replace the benefits of certain beneficiaries, according to Director Matt Damschroder.
Some qualified recipients may benefit from SNAP replacement in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga Counties. They could have their Food Stamps replaced by August 30, 2024. So they won’t have to wait long for the money to appear on their EBT or Ohio Direction Cards cards.
Who will be eligible for SNAP replacement in Ohio?
According to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the waiver will apply to all residents in Lake and Geauga counties. Furthermore, there will be recipients who live in the following zip codes in Cuyahoga:

Although you do not need to apply for replacement if you lost the food you purchased with your SNAP benefits this time, you may be required to fill out a form in the future. As a result, you should fill out JFS 07222 Statement Requesting Replacement of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits within ten days of the food loss.
According to the Summit County Department of Job and Family Services, a power outage must last more than 4 hours to be eligible for SNAP replacement benefits. Naturally, it must lead to food loss.
