A conservative social media influencer, Isabella Maria DeLuca, has been arrested and charged with federal offences related to the breach of the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

DeLuca, known for her large following on social media, was accused of participating in the riot and helping pass a stolen table out of a broken window, according to court documents released on Monday.

The 24-year-old from Long Island, New York, and former congressional intern was arrested in California last Friday, more than three years after the events at the Capitol.

She allegedly assisted in passing a table from a US Senate terrace room to rioters outside, who then used it against law enforcement officers guarding the Lower West Terrace Tunnel.

DeLuca was captured on footage entering the Capitol through the same broken window and was seen in restricted areas during the riot. She faces charges including theft of government property, disorderly conduct, and entering a restricted area, all misdemeanours.

Court documents revealed that DeLuca posted about the violent events at the Capitol on social media both during and after the riot, including claiming she was Maced. In one post, she replied to a Twitter user, stating, “Fight back or let politicians steal an election? Fight back!”

When questioned by the FBI weeks after the riot, DeLuca denied entering the Capitol. However, her social media posts suggested otherwise, with statements like “According to the constitution it’s our house” and expressing “mixed feelings” about the events of January 6.
