Disability insurance payments do not end in October. October 16 is a payday for SSDI participants who began collecting benefits after April 30, 1997, and have a birthdate between 11 and 20.
You can check your bank account to verify if the Social Security Administration (SSA) has already sent your SSDI payment. Anyway, this will not be the final disability payment for October.
SSDI payment for October 23, without the 2025 COLA
No SSDI payments in 2024 will include the 2025 COLA rise. As a result, disability insurance recipients will have to wait until January to receive this rise. To receive money on October 23:
- Disability Insurance beneficiaries must have been on benefits after April 30, 1997
- their birth date must be from 21-31
- they must remain eligible and continue having a qualifying disability
For your information, if you get SSI in addition to SSDI, your next payment is scheduled for November 1. As a result, you will receive both SSI and disability insurance on the same payday next month. Social Security must transmit the payment in advance because the third falls on a weekend.
SSDI numbers without the 2025 COLA
In October, the maximum amount for both SSDI cheques and direct deposits will be the same. In 2024, disability insurance recipients can get a maximum payment of $3,822.
As of August 2024, the average SSDI benefit was approximately $1,539. Because few people can receive the maximum Social Security Disability Insurance payment, this figure may be closer to the average.
Following the 2025 COLA rise, which takes effect on January 3, the average payment will be around $1,577. If you only earn $1,000 in 2024, your disability insurance payment will be around $1,025 in 2025.
Those who receive a monthly payment of $500 in 2024 will receive around $512 in 2025. In this scenario, you may also qualify for Supplemental Security Income, so check with your local SSA office to see whether you are qualified.
