NASCAR fans are in for a treat as Kyle Larson gears up to honor racing legend Terry Labonte with a special throwback paint scheme at Darlington Raceway.
Labonte, a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, achieved his last title in 1996 while driving the iconic No. 5 car for Hendrick Motorsports.
Larson’s throwback paint scheme will feature the famous Kellogg’s colors, reminiscent of Labonte’s glory days on the track. The race is set to take place on May 12th, 2024, and fans are buzzing with anticipation.
Expressing his excitement, Larson shared, “This is something we’ve been working on for really a few years, ever since I got to Hendrick. You know, I always get asked, ‘What has been the coolest car that I’ve gotten to race?’ And, I think this is going to take the cake. I’m excited about it.”
In response, Labonte couldn’t contain his enthusiasm, saying, “Just put it in victory lane for me. That’s my all-time favorite car right there.
To be able to win the championship in that car and win the races that we won was really awesome. And, to have you behind the wheel at Darlington is going to be amazing. So, I can’t wait. I’m going to be there.”
