Texas Man Arrested for Sexual Battery After Cruise Ship Docked in Fort Lauderdale

A Texas guy concluded his cruise vacation in Broward County jail after being charged with sexual battery.

Juan Campos, 28, was arrested on Sunday at a cruise terminal in Fort Lauderdale. He has subsequently bailed out of jail, according to documents.

According to the arrest report, the 20-year-old victim said police she and Campos were together on Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas cruise ship. According to the report, Campos was on top of her and had unbuttoned her shorts.

According to deputies, he then penetrated her with something she did not want.

According to the complaint, the woman tried to push Campos off of her, telling him “it hurts” and to “stop.” Campos, on the other hand, persisted and attempted to turn her over to sexually abuse her, but was unsuccessful, according to deputies.

When detectives went to interrogate Campos, he asked for counsel.

Ed Hoeg, Campos’ attorney, told the Herald in an email that his client is not guilty, and witnesses will challenge the alleged victim’s version of events.

“I can tell you that it is my understanding, from speaking to persons other than Mr. Campos, that there are witnesses and evidence which I expect will contradict the narrative detailed in the probable cause affidavit,” Hoeg told the jury.
