Tragic Accident Angela Chao’s Fatal Tesla Mishap

Angela Chao, the sister-in-law of Senator Mitch McConnell and a billionaire, met a tragic end at the age of 50. She accidentally backed her Tesla into a pond on a Texas ranch while attempting a three-point turn. The incident unfolded during a weekend gathering with friends on a sprawling 900-acre property in the Texas Hill Country.

After celebrating the Chinese New Year with her girlfriends from Harvard Business School, Angela left the guesthouse around 11:30 p.m. to go to the main house where her son was sleeping. Wanting to avoid the cold, she opted to drive her Tesla Model X SUV for a short four-minute journey.

In a devastating turn of events, Angela called her friends in a panic just minutes later. While attempting a K-turn, she mistakenly put the car in reverse instead of driving, causing it to go over an embankment and into a pond.

Her friends rushed to help, with one jumping into the pond. The ranch manager and his wife joined the rescue efforts, and 911 was called. Emergency units arrived 24 minutes later due to the rugged terrain.

Despite efforts to rescue Angela, the Tesla was completely submerged. A tow truck struggled to reach the vehicle, and fears of electrocution by the electric vehicle added to the challenges. A two-man rescue crew eventually pulled Angela from the car at 12:56 a.m.

Despite extensive attempts to resuscitate her for 43 minutes, Angela Chao remained unresponsive. The ranch is owned by a corporation linked to her husband, Jim Breyer, a venture capitalist and part-owner of the Boston Celtics.
