A heartbreaking incident occurred as a 17-year-old La Porte High School student, Christopher Flores, passed away after ingesting a pill unknowingly laced with fentanyl.
Christopher’s mother confirmed that he was pronounced dead on Friday at 2:35 p.m., just two days before his 18th birthday.
He was rushed to Texas Children’s Hospital on March 4 after taking the pill at a friend’s house, unaware of its dangerous contents.
Christopher’s cousin, Victoria Salas, described him as an active and beloved member of the community, deeply involved in fitness and surrounded by supportive friends. Nearly 100 of them gathered at the hospital to offer prayers and support.
The family received devastating news when the toxicology report revealed the presence of fentanyl in Christopher’s system.
The La Porte Police Department has initiated a criminal investigation into the incident. Lt. John Kruege indicated that the death might be treated as a homicide case, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
