Missouri State Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert for a missing 16-year-old pregnant girl, Sophia Franklin.
Authorities believe she is traveling with 40-year-old Gary F. Day, the father of her unborn child. The two were last seen leaving Wisconsin, and officials suspect they are heading toward Arkansas.
Amber Alert Details
Sophia Franklin was reported missing over a week ago from her home in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
According to police, she was allegedly taken by Gary Day, who now faces multiple felony charges, including child abduction and child enticement.
Officials believe the two are traveling in a black 2014 Buick LaCrosse. The car has a Pennsylvania license plate number KGW518, but authorities suspect the plates are being switched to avoid detection.
Day Has a History of Taking Sophia
This is not the first time Day has been involved in Sophia’s disappearance. Court records indicate that the two met online in April 2024.
In the summer of 2024, Sophia ran away from home and stayed with a friend in Wisconsin. Though she remained in contact with her parents and had a job, she later left for Arkansas with Day in August.
Sophia returned home in late 2024 and was pregnant. Her parents believed she was safe, but she secretly continued communicating with Day. Last week, Day allegedly came back to Wisconsin and took her again.
Amber Alerts Issued in Multiple States
Missouri is the latest state to issue an Amber Alert for Sophia and Day. Arkansas State Police had already issued an alert last week.
Law enforcement agencies across multiple states are working together to locate them.
