Virginia Man Arrested for Alleged Concealment of Dead Body Weeks After Wife’s Disappearance

Four weeks after his wife went missing, a man was arrested in Virginia on suspicion of hiding a dead body, police said Thursday.

In a statement, Mario Luge, the chief of police at Manassas Park, stated that Naresh Bhatt had been arrested on the felony charge of hiding a dead body.

Mamta Kafle Bhatt, his 28-year-old wife, was last seen working as a pediatric nurse on July 27. She has been the focus of a large investigation into her disappearance. The child of Kafle, who turned one this week, has been given to the Department of Social Services to care for.

The police have not said for sure that a body has been found; they only know that Naresh Bhatt may have hidden one in some way. The police said that the arrest was “related to her disappearance.”

The statement said, “The Manassas Park Police Department is still looking into what happened to Mamta Kafle Bhatt and hopes to find her.” “More leads are being actively pursued as part of the investigation, which could lead to more charges being brought.” The Manassas Park Police Department is still investigating the disappearance of Mamta Kafle Bhatt and hoping to locate her,” it said. “Additional investigative leads are being actively pursued and may result in additional charges being brought.”

Naresh Bhatt is being held without bond and has to go to Family and Juvenile Court on Friday morning.

Naresh Bhatt told police that he had not seen his wife since July 31. When she didn’t show up for work on August 2, her coworkers called the police. They went to the family home and talked to Narash Bhatt, but his wife wasn’t found.

She hasn’t been seen or heard from since August 8, and cops say her credit cards and phone haven’t been used since she went missing.

Thursday, family and friends, many from Mamta Kafle Bhatt’s home country of Nepal, held a light vigil outside the Kafles’ house. People in the area and Kafle’s coworkers have set up several searches for her.

A GoFundMe page set up to get money to help with the search has almost $14,000 raised.
