In Houston, after the Golden State Warriors defeated the Rockets 133-110, players Draymond Green and Klay Thompson expressed their thoughts on Rockets forward Tari Eason’s actions.
Eason had worn a shirt with a phrase that the Warriors players used before the game, but after the loss, he left the arena shirtless with a vest and a large diamond chain.
Thompson didn’t hold back, calling Eason’s behaviour “lame,” especially since he wasn’t even playing in the game. He believed that if someone talks trash, they should be able to back it up on the court.
Green agreed with Thompson, appreciating the competitive spirit but emphasizing the importance of backing up talk with action. Eason was sidelined for the rest of the season due to surgery for a leg injury.
The Warriors’ victory almost guaranteed them a top-10 seed in the playoffs, effectively fending off the Rockets’ late-season surge. Just over a week ago, Houston was closely trailing Golden State in the standings after an impressive winning streak.
With only six games left in the regular season, the Warriors are now four games ahead of the Rockets, which practically translates to a five-game lead because of the season tiebreaker they hold. This solidifies the Warriors’ position, allowing them to focus on climbing higher in the standings.
Although mathematically the Rockets aren’t ruled out from the play-in tournament, the Warriors’ recent strong performances make it unlikely for them to stumble enough to allow Houston to catch up.
