Janesville, Wisconsin. – On Thursday, a southern Wisconsin man on bond for a fifth OWI conviction and ordered by the court to maintain total sobriety was pulled over and arrested for his sixth OWI crime.
According to a release from the Janesville Police Department, 44-year-old Joaquin Tomas Sipriano of Janesville was stopped for speeding at approximately 11:35 p.m. on August 22.
During the traffic stop near the intersection of East Wall and North Main Streets, Sipriano allegedly refused to exit his vehicle and placed it in drive in ‘an attempt to depart,’ according to officers.
Officers noticed a strong odor of intoxicants and said that Sipriano acknowledged to drinking three beers. It was later discovered that Sipriano was out on a $1,000 cash bond for his fifth OWI violation, had been ordered to use an ignition interlock device, and had to maintain total sobriety.
Sipriano allegedly did not have an ignition interlock device placed in his vehicle.
A blood sample was refused, but a warrant for one was eventually granted. Sipriano reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was sent to the Rock County Jail.
