Authorities Have Detained a Georgia Man in Another State After Discovering His Wife’s Burned Remains

A man from Fayetteville, Georgia, was detained in Louisiana on Thursday after reportedly killing his wife and burning her body before burying her under yard debris, according to authorities.

Kenneth Hardin Junior is being jailed in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, for extradition on homicide charges, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news statement from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, a domestic altercation between Hardin and his wife happened early Tuesday morning at their home on Merlin Court in Fayetteville.

The next morning, Hardin allegedly told family members that he had killed his wife, burned her body, and was leaving town.

Later that morning, Hardin’s father called county dispatchers to report the claimed assault, and when deputies arrived at the home, they discovered evidence that corroborated the report.

As the inquiry progressed, officers were able to trace Hardin’s vehicle to Covington, Louisiana.

They subsequently alerted the Louisiana State Patrol and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office (STPSO), which collaborated to locate the vehicle at a nearby motel.

SWAT troops apprehended Hardin from inside the motel and put him into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Facility as a fugitive for extradition to Georgia.

While some investigators pursued Hardin, others conducted an investigation at Hardin’s home, where they discovered a shallow burial in a forested area behind the house.

The sheriff’s office reported that the charred remains of Hardin’s wife, Carrie Hardin, were discovered buried behind yard debris.
