Three Hitmen in Lil Durk’s Murder-for-Hire Plot Arrested and Booked into Rockford Jail

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Three men are being held in the Winnebago County Jail while they wait to be sent to Los Angeles on charges of being hitmen for Chicago rapper Lil Durk.

Durk Banks, 32, aka “Lil Durk,” is accused of planning a plot to kill a rival rapper. The suspects are Kavon London Grant, 28, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, 33, of Chicago, and David Brian Lindsey, 33, of Addison.

In court records, the victim was a foe named only as “T.B.” They were attacked at a gas station near the Beverly Center mall in Los Angeles in August 2022, and one of their family members died.

The U.S. Department of Justice says that Banks was not only a GRAMMY-winning rapper, but also the leader of the Chicago-based group “Only the Family” (OTF). Federal authorities think that Banks directed OTF to commit crimes and kill people.

Banks fought with T.B. because one of T.B.’s friends had killed an OTF member named Dayvon Bennett, also known as “King Von.”

Banks is said to have put a reward on T.B.’s head and paid five men, including Grant, Wilson, and Lindsey, to go from Chicago to California and try to find, stalk, and kill T.B.

The work led to the shooting at the gas station, which killed a family member of T.B. who was only named as “S.R.”

Government and local police nabbed Grant, Wilson, and Lindsey in the early hours of Thursday, October 31st.

Banks was caught Thursday at an airport in Miami before he could leave the country.

The charges also named two other men: 33-year-old Keith Jones from Chicago and 36-year-old Asa Houston from the same city.

One count of using interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death is being charged against the five men. Another count is of using, carrying, and firing firearms and a machine gun and having such firearms to commit a violent crime resulting in death. Jones is also charged with having a machine gun on his person.

In court on Thursday, they went to the Northern District of Illinois in Rockford. In the coming weeks, they are likely to be tried in the US District Court in Los Angeles.

Banks and the other five suspects could get life terms if they are found guilty.
