Brooklyn Bishop Convicted of Fraud, Robbing Pensioner of $90K

Brooklyn’s Bishop Lamar Whitehead dubbed the “Bling Bishop,” has been found guilty of fraud charges after allegedly scamming a parishioner out of $90,000. The verdict was reached in a Manhattan federal court after Whitehead was accused of coercing victims into giving him money through deceit and threats.

One victim, Pauline Anderson, was persuaded to invest her retirement savings with Whitehead, who promised to help her buy a home. However, he allegedly used the money for personal expenses instead. Another victim, Brandon Belmonte, was targeted in an attempted extortion scheme by Whitehead.

Despite attempts by Whitehead’s defence to shift blame, the jury swiftly reached a guilty verdict after three hours of deliberation. Whitehead faces sentencing on July 1 and could spend decades behind bars for his crimes.

This isn’t the first time Whitehead has faced controversy. In July 2022, he was robbed at gunpoint during a church service, resulting in the theft of $1 million worth of jewellery. Now, justice has caught up with the “Bling Bishop,” as he faces the consequences of his fraudulent actions.
