In a dramatic rescue operation at Fort Funston in San Francisco, two hikers and their dog were saved from a perilous situation on Sunday night.
According to the fire department, the incident unfolded when two individuals, who were visiting from out of town, found themselves stranded on a cliff as the tide rose unexpectedly.
They had been out hiking with their collie-breed dog until after sunset when they realized they couldn’t find their way back to the trail in the darkness.
Feeling trapped, they reached out for help using their cell phone to dial 9-1-1. Coastal rescue crews promptly responded to the distress call and arrived at the scene to assist the stranded hikers and their pet.
Fortunately, despite the challenging circumstances, the rescue operation was successful, and all three – the two hikers and their dog – were brought to safety. Although one person sustained a minor injury, everyone involved is reported to be in good condition, according to the fire department.
The dramatic cliff rescue at Fort Funston reminds us always to stay vigilant while enjoying outdoor adventures.
