In Florida, an Uber driver named John Alcott is facing charges for allegedly trying to sell Psilocybin mushrooms and LSD to undercover detectives at a conference. The incident took place during the Florida Narcotics Officers’ Association Annual Conference in Miramar Beach.
Authorities noticed Alcott’s suspicious behaviour, including a strong marijuana smell in his car. After talking to undercover detectives, they found Psilocybin mushrooms in Alcott’s possession. Following this, a plan was made to buy drugs from him in an undercover operation.
Over a few months, investigators stayed in touch with Alcott, discovering he allegedly used his Uber services to transport drugs between Destin and Panama City Beach, raising concerns about the risks associated with ride-sharing.
In a coordinated effort, deputies arrested Alcott during a planned drug transaction, seizing a significant amount of Psilocybin mushrooms and LSD meant for sale. Alcott faces charges like selling hallucinogens, LSD trafficking, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
